CONFUSEDD

I have found all the pictures from my dad's wedding and i have their marriage certificate but i am stuck on what to do next. I have interviewed both my Aunt and his first wife. My mom won't let me interview his current wife!! so i don't know what to do now. Please give me some ideas on what to do with this information. Also if any one can help me find old newspaper articles from 1998 and 2003 that would be very helpful.

Hi Dorothy,

About newspaper articles: you should be able to find a full run of the New Haven Register on microfilm at the public library. You can also go into Manuscripts and Archives at Yale, where we had the tour, and use it there if you need to.

As for what to do next: look over what you have gathered and think about how you want to incorporate the information into your final project. You had mentioned you were thinking of doing a collage--you could make copies of what you have and then put it together in a way that tells a story. With copies you can easily excerpt portions of documents, images, and interviews that are especially meaningful, without doing any harm to the original. Or, once you've taken a good look at the way your materials tell your story, you might have another idea for your final project.

Also think about what you'd like to have copied to put in the exhibit. We'll have a camera in class to make a color digital copy of anything you'd like to include. This could be the collage, if you are finished with it, or any individual item you think says something about your project.

Beyond the final project and the exhibit, this material and the information you now have because of it is yours. You should hang onto it, and maybe in a few years you can revisit this and encounter less resistance to talking about certain things.

Does this help? Please post again if you need more information or have other questions.

Great work!
